Presentation:
Git-based DevOps for the Next Generation of IBM i Applications
Have you ever wondered why tens of millions of developers around the world have adopted Git for managing their source code? Did it shock you when Microsoft paid $7.5 Billion for a site that hosted Git repositories (GitHub)? Have you been asked by your leadership to adopt the same Git-based DevOps tooling used across the rest of your IT group? Are you just curious about all the fuss?
This presentation will use graphics and live demos to explain the basics of Git, tailored for IBM i developers, including:
- Git principles and how they compare to traditional IBM i change management methods
- Git as part of an Open Source DevOps process
- The benefits of using Git for managing your IBM i RPG, COBOL, DB2 applications
- The power of Git hosting sites like GitHub, GitLab and BitBucket
- Automated IBM i builds and deployments
- Free resources available to continue your learning
- How Eradani can help
Whether it's Git, GitHub, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins that are on your CIO's mind, an understanding of Git and Open Source DevOps fundamentals will equip you for the discussion and prepare you to adopt the latest in DevOps technology.
